It seemed Master Chief spent much time running from battle to battle, there were few back stories, and the whole book seemed less of a sequel and more of a half enthusiastic diversion to The Fall Of Reach. This is not unexpected. This mostly unnecessary flash back could have been used for something else, perhaps, and is the weakest part of an otherwise unremarkable novel in the generally par Halo franchise. Not a good book.The Halo novels have been my first foray into extended universe reading. It's that boring. The book answers the question "I wonder what Master Chief would do." But the revelation he is about to hear will force the Master Chief and Spark to become enemies. Matt Forbeck did a great job portraying Buck's character and really the hole Alpha-Nine team.
